Snow Removal
This department has 70+ lots to maintain, equaling about 3,800,000 square feet. It also has around 15 miles of roads on campus to keep clear of snow.
Storm Drains
This campus has over 200 storm drains, and Transportation and Heavy Equipment Services is in charge of keeping them clear. They check them quarterly and clean them as needed, and the problem drains get checked weekly.
Construction
This shop works on excavation for emergency digs, assist other shops, concrete removal, grading for concrete replacement, and asphalt removal and replacement.
Street and Parking Lot Sweeping
Most of the year, the Transportation and Heavy Equipment Shop takes five days to complete a full round of sweeping the campus streets and parking lots. During the Fall, the sweeper is running continuously.
Waste Disposal
The shop also dumps the dumpsters around campus for garbage and recycling.Now when you see one of their trucks driving around campus, you might have a good idea of what they are up to!

ReplyDeleteKeeping the campus streets and parking lots clean is not easy. If you don’t have this street sweeper truck, you can just imagine how much time and effort you need to exert just to finish janitorial tasks. That truck is a big help because it makes work fast, easy, and efficient.
