Event Support Services

Event Support Services provide set-up and tear-down of tents, tables, chairs, etc. for any event on campus.  They are the liaison between Plant Operations and our customers.  They provide support to five different areas on campus.  They support the Plant Operations summer barbecue, football game tailgating, pep rallies, events at the president's house and Eccles House, the Outdoor Recreation Department's summer blow-out, the hospital's summer party, the Presidential Donor Dinner, and much, much more.

They hang marketing banners around campus, and try to help in any other way they can.  Remember to request their services whenever you have an upcoming event.  Call the Dispatch Office at (801) 581-7221.

Transportation and Heavy Equipment Services

Have you ever wondered what the Transportation and Heavy Equipment Services Department does?  Here's a breakdown of their services:

Snow Removal
This department has 70+ lots to maintain, equaling about 3,800,000 square feet.  It also has around 15 miles of roads on campus to keep clear of snow.

Storm Drains
This campus has over 200 storm drains, and Transportation and Heavy Equipment Services is in charge of keeping them clear.  They check them quarterly and clean them as needed, and the problem drains get checked weekly.

Construction
This shop works on excavation for emergency digs, assist other shops, concrete removal, grading for concrete replacement, and asphalt removal and replacement.

Street and Parking Lot Sweeping
Most of the year, the Transportation and Heavy Equipment Shop takes five days to complete a full round of sweeping the campus streets and parking lots.  During the Fall, the sweeper is running continuously.

Waste Disposal
The shop also dumps the dumpsters around campus for garbage and recycling.

Now when you see one of their trucks driving around campus, you might have a good idea of what they are up to!
