A Call to Recycle

Joshua James in our Recycling Department is helping to kick-off this year's Recycle Mania, a program set up to get students around the country excited about recycling. Read this article in the Utah Chronicle about some information Josh shared at a recent brown bag lunch event.  We appreciate Josh's conitnued efforts throughout the years to encourage all of us to recycle.

Olympic Torch

This picture is a close-up of the Olympic Torch that is displayed in Rice-Eccles Stadium.  This torch was actually lit and used in the running of the torch here in the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics in 2002.  In a sense, it has recently been re-lit.  Within the display case, an amber-colored light was installed above the torch to give it the illusion of being lit.  White lights below it highlight the writing on the handle.  Whenever you're in the neighborhood, make sure you stop by this display in the tower of the stadium to check out the fine craftsmanship and beautiful history.

Pop Tabs for Kids

On behalf of the Ronald McDonald House of Salt Lake City, we are proud to introduce you to Plant Operations' ongoing service project:

Pop Tabs for Kids is a service program that has served the Ronald McDonald House of Salt Lake City since April of 1997. It's easy: when you're finished with your soda can, pull the pop tab off and place it in any drop-off bin by the recycling bins and vending machines in Building 350, the Grounds Building, and the Motor Pool Building. After you take off the tab, remember to recycle the rest of the can!

The Ronald McDonald House collects only the tabs because they are clean, small, and easily stored. Please join us for this great cause! Your small efforts will benefit hundreds of families who need a place to stay while their children are in town for medical treatments. Thank you for your continued support!
